The Mechanics of How Black Magic Works and Why God Allows it, According to Vedic Wisdom
When I bring up the subject of black magic to someone and mention that I’m writing an article about the mechanics of black magic, I can usually sense a recoil from the person, as though he’d just unexpectedly seen a snake. After the initial recoil wears off, I find that many people are interested in knowing the answers to such questions as:
What is black magic?
Does it work?, If so, how and why?
Why does God let there be such a thing as black magic?
How does a person acquire mystic powers?
Is the ability to perform magic dependent on bloodlines?
What are the eight mystic perfections?
Is there a quick, easy way to achieve mystic abilities such as telepathy?
How can I know if I’m being affected by black magic and what remedies are there to black magic spells?
The idea to write this article has been growing in me. I haven’t written articles about my realizations for several years now because I’ve been focusing on healing. My articles tend to cause a bit of disruption in the mental realm and lately I’ve been keeping peaceful by enjoying life on our farm in Washington State, growing flowers and making vases for my altar, and making crowns out of polymer clay for Their Lordships. Then I started thinking about writing this article in which I explain the mechanics about how and why black magic works. My realizations in this area are due to over four decades of study and practice of bhakti yoga under the guidance of my spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada, who has kindly brought the ancient wisdom of the Vedas out of India. That and the fact that I have a natural inclination to notice what is going on in the mental realm.
I had some serious reservations about writing this article, mainly because one of the offenses to the Holy Name, according to Vedic wisdom, is to “preach the glories of the Lord to the faithless”. I have access to knowledge which, put together with my personal experiences and realizations, will let any interested person understand how to achieve mystic powers. There are short cuts, “buy now and pay later” plans to obtain mystic abilities and my intention in this article is to expose the pitfalls for those who take short cuts when they desire to obtain extra ordinary powers. However, in writing such an article, I will, out of necessity expose how to achieve mystic abilities such as the ability to shape shift, to teleport or to forcefully influence someone else’s mind.
If you are continuing to read after the last sentence, you have likely remembered a time in which you, or someone around you experienced something that was unexplainable without being open to the possibility that there is an overlapping world that we can’t see with our eyes. I’ve been open to that idea my whole life and went seeking after the answers to my esoteric questions as a teenager. I set off, hitch-hiking south with vague ideas in mind, I had a series of mystical experiences, culminating with receiving a book that answered my questions and a new direction in life: bhakti yoga.
My decision to write this article didn’t come lightly. I’m healing from a tumor, breast cancer. grown due to my worry for my child, and part of that healing process is accepting new mental pathways. The opening of those pathways seems to channel a lot of energy that could be interpreted as pain, and I’ve found that when I allow myself to deepen my heartfelt feelings, that the deepening process seems to trigger the intensity that could be interpreted as pain. Because my body is in a weakened condition and my mind is affected by what other people think, I’m taking the risk by writing this article only because I’ve had so many supporting synchronicities telling me to write it that I’m certain that it is the right (write) thing to do. I have faith that God will protect me because my motives are clean.
How and Why Mystic Abilities Work
A few weeks ago, the members of our little aumstead and I were having a Zoom meeting with some godsiblings, and suddenly there was an alarming CRACK!! A bolt of lightning had struck so close to the house that we all rose out of our seats, to the surprise of our godbrothers, who somehow didn’t hear the loud sound. A couple of days later, I sadly noticed that a young plum tree that stands outside my meditation room window seemed to be dying. All the leaves wilted, and when we discussed the possible causes, we remembered that jolt of lightening. Our poor plum tree had been shocked.
The reason I’m recalling this experience with the tree is because, in doing research for this article, I was looking for the word that explained a concept. We don’t have a word for the concept in English, so I wrote to a knowledgeable godbrother, asking for the Sanskrit word for the concept. Because I couldn’t expect an immediate response from my godbrother, I thought I’d take a break, an idea which was reinforced by the fact that my little dog, Maya, was barking in such a way that I knew we had a visitor.
As I was walking by the plum tree, I thought of my godbrother and the word “shakti” came to mind. The tree was shocked (shocked tree/shakti) and I knew that the article would pivot around the concept of shakti. I returned to my writing and wrote:
The reason that magic spells often employ ritualistic sacrifices when they are cast is because the death and suffering of a participant heightens the intensity in the mental realm, strengthening the spell immeasurably. It is like electricity: when the current is condensed, it delivers a more powerful shock. The Sanskrit term for this ubitiquitis energy field is shakti. Because there isn’t really an English word for the concept of shakti, I’ll be henceforward referring to the energy field surrounding us as shakti.
When I checked my email, my godbrother explained that the concept I’d described was Hladini Shakti.
I’ve had a number of other similar confirmations that have urged me to continue writing this article, regardless of any subtle opposition from the mental realm.
What is Black Magic/Voodoo/Witchcraft?
Wikipedia says: “Black magic, also known as dark magic, has traditionally referred to the use of supernatural powers or magic for evil and selfish purposes.”
For most people, understanding the nature of “supernatural powers” or magic is incomprehensible, however for students of the Vedas and in particular, the Srimad Bhagavatam (a 5000 year old scripture known as the ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic knowledge), it is possible not only to understand how supernatural powers and magic work, but also possible to become adept at using them. In fact, the Srimad Bhagavatam describes the inhabitants of the upper planetary systems as possessing all of the eight different mystic abilities:
The inhabitants of higher planets are empowered with eightfold achievements of mystic perfection. They do not have to learn and practice the mystic processes of yoga perfection and achieve the power of becoming small like a particle (anima-siddhi), or lighter than a soft feather (laghima-siddhi). They do not have to get anything and everything from anywhere and everywhere (prapti-siddhi), to become heavier than the heaviest (mahima-siddhi), to act freely even to create something wonderful or to annihilate anything at will (isitva-siddhi), to control all material elements (vasitva-siddhi), to possess such power as will never be frustrated in any desire (prakamya-siddhi), or to assume any shape or form one may even whimsically desire (kamavasayita-siddhi). (Srimad-Bhagavatam (2.2.22), purport)
The Vedas explain that the denizens of the higher planets are benevolent beings who naturally possess these abilities due to having cultivated a Godly consciousness. We might think of such beings as angels. Because of their godly nature, they never misuse their special abilities. The Vedas also describe demonic beings (demons) who are also able to achieve mystic abilities due to performing extreme penances and austerities. The difference between the mystic abilities of the godly people and the abilities of demonic people is that the godly people use their exceptional abilities to serve God, while the demonic people use black magic to fulfill their materialistic desires.
The Materialists and the Spiritualists
The differences between material desires and spiritual desires are thoroughly explored in the Srimad Bhagavatam. The material world, which is just a fraction of the Lord’s creation, is explained to be temporary and dead. The material world is described as God’s External Energy. The living entities, consisting of you and I and everything that has consciousness, are God’s Marginal Energy. We are marginal because we have the free choice whether to be devoted to God in a personal relationship with Him, or whether to try to enjoy separately from God. The material world was created as a place where souls can try to fulfill their desires independently from God.
Because God’s External Energy, the material world, is dead, made up of lifeless matter, it is only the interaction of the living entities within the material world that give it the appearance of life. It is the desires of the living entities that have caused the creation of this dead world. God has provided us with a place in which we can endeavor to fulfill our heart’s desire without being aware of His omnipresence.
In this dead place, sometimes a soul develops exceptionally strong material desires, for instance to achieve fame, money, revenge or power. To achieve his desires, a soul is sometimes willing to perform severe austerities. The Srimad Bhagavatam illuminates an example of a soul with a demonic mentality, Hiranyakasipu, who desired immortality within his body. His desire was so strong that he performed the austerity of standing on his tiptoes, arms outstretched to the sky. He stood that way, without eating or drinking or taking any kind of break from the austerity until his flesh was eaten away by ants and he maintained his life force within the marrow of his bones. The force of his desire was so powerful, it is described in the Srimad Bhagavatam, that it disrupted the tranquility of the universe.
The narration of Hiranyakasipu’s austerity and subsequent achievement of all mystic abilities (although he did not achieve immortality for his material body) gives us many clues about how mystic powers are attained. We can understand that when a soul has desires, if he is willing to perform austerities, he will be able to achieve his desires. The Srimad Bhagavatam explains that God is everyone’s benefactor and because He loves us, even when we desire to try to enjoy apart from Him, He will fulfill our desires. If we desire strongly enough and are willing to perform intense austerities, God will fulfill any desire regardless of how selfish that desire is.
What lengths are people willing to go to in order to get the power to fulfill their desires?
I’ve seen clips from TV shows where people perform demeaning and physically demanding feats (I’m thinking of a Japanese show that had people in brightly colored jumpsuits compete in climbing a slime covered slide) in order to win some type of cash prize. This is an example of someone performing an austerity (the demeaning and demanding feat) in order to fulfill the simple desire to get money. Other people are willing to toil for decades, like a hamster running on a wheel, doing a meaningless job as the austerity that provides the money to fulfill needs and desires.
Sometimes a soul develops a desire for mystic powers. For instance there is a mystic ability known in the Vedas as prapti siddhi that allows the adept to be able to reach out and grab anything from anywhere. This is a handy ability because such an adept could not only procure valuable things to use to fulfill other desires, but he could also attract followers, and he might even be able to convince gullible people that he is God. According to the Vedas, a soul who desires an ability such as prapti siddhi can achieve it either by performing severe austerities in an impersonal manner, or by worshiping, by cultivating a relationship with God.
The Srimad Bhagavatam illuminates the history of Druva, a soul with a powerful desire to rule over a kingdom. As a small child, Druva went to climb on his father’s lap, but was stopped by his stepmother who informed the five year old Druva that he would never inherit his powerful father’s kingdom. As a result of the assertion of his stepmother, Druva’s desire to gain a kingdom greater than that of his father or his grandfather burned like fire. Because Druva was inconsolable, Druva’s mother advised him to go into the forest and worship God, which he did with single-minded focus. After some time of praying in the forest, God’s representative, Narada, appeared to Druva and gave him instructions about how to please God. Following the instructions of his spiritual master Narada, Druva performed extreme austerities in the forest for six months, ignoring the demands of his body and mind. As a result of his dedication to the instructions of his spiritual master, God in His form of Vishnu, appeared before him, ready to grant his wish. However when Druva experienced being face to Face with Lord Vishnu, all his material desires evaporated like dew in the sunshine. When Vishnu was ready to grant Druva’s desire, Druva discovered that he no longer desired anything material. He simply desired to maintain his loving relationship with God. Druva offered some beautiful prayers to Vishnu, explaining that his relationship with Him was like obtaining a precious jewel, while his desire for a kingdom was like desiring broken glass.
We are currently living in an age called Kali Yuga, the age of quarrel and hypocrisy. In this age, human lifespan is greatly reduced and people living during this time also have minimal Godly qualities. Of the four pillars of religiosity; mercy, cleanliness, ability to perform austerities and truthfulness, only a modicum of truthfulness remains in the hearts of most people. Poor animals are slaughtered to satisfy people’s taste for meat without regard to the conditions that the animals had to endure, destroying the pillar of mercy. People have poor personal and mental hygiene, and engage in illicit sex, destroying the pillar of cleanliness and people would rather be entertained and imbibe intoxication than voluntarily accept inconveniences for a higher purpose destroying the pillar of austerity. Fortunately, in spite of the degraded atmosphere in this age, people do appreciate truth.
In the material world, many things are relatively true. For instance it is relatively true that the sun raises in the East in the morning and a person looking towards the east on a clear morning would be telling the truth if he declared that he watched a sunrise. However we know that his perception in seeing the sun rise comes from his own perspective and his declaration is only relatively true. Some things are Absolutely True such as the fact that we are spirit and have an eternal relationship with the Supreme Spirit, God. It is also Absolutely True that the soul has three qualities: sat (eternality), cit (full with knowledge) and ananda (happiness). As a spirit soul, our natural ananda, happiness, is awakened when we use our natural propensity to serve in the service of the Supreme Lord.
In addition to being eternal, full with knowledge and happiness, we, as spirit souls, are also like tiny gods because we are the Supreme Lord’s parts and parcels. It is like we are tiny sparks of a big fire. As individual sparks, we have the power to burn and emit light, but that power is very limited. If an individual soul strongly desires to have the mystic powers of God, he can get those powers, as explained above, by performing austerities. This age in which we are living, Kali Yuga, is so degraded that if a person is unwilling to endure hardships in his own body and mind, he can cheat and actually harvest the suffering of others. There are people in this world who, in order to achieve and maintain mystic abilities, torture others and then use the resulting emotional intensity to boost their own consciousness. Most people are aware of rituals within Voodoo practices in which the practitioner sacrifices animals, using the intense release of feelings endured by the animal to boost the intensity of the desire of the practitioner to create a black magic spell.
The Power of Beliefs
Magic spells are made up of words that the caster of the spell hopes will fulfill his/her desire. When someone consciously crafts and casts a word spell, he/she may also employ supporting measures such as sigils (visual hypnotic triggers), conscious manipulation of the ether/chi/od, the assistance of ethereal beings (bhutas, pretas, pramathas, guhyakas, dakinis, pisacas, kusmandas, vetalas, vinayakas and brahma-raksasas), ritualistic ceremonies as well as using psychology and propaganda. But a magic spell is more than a recipe using words and supporting modalities: to be effective, the spell needs to be ignited with emotion. The stronger the emotion, the stronger the spell.
The reason that magic spells often employ ritualistic sacrifices when they are cast is because the death and suffering of a participant heightens the intensity in the mental realm, strengthening the spell immeasurably. It is like electricity: when the current is condensed, it delivers a more powerful shock. The Sanskrit term for this ubiquitous energy field is shakti. Because there isn’t really an English word for the concept of shakti, I’ll be henceforward referring to the energy field surrounding us as shakti.
Ultimately black magic spells are about control. While it might be a useful trick to be able to perform prapti siddhi and grab a lump of gold out of the ether, to be able to control others’ minds to the point that the subjects of the spell willingly bring the magician gold (or whatever he wants!) is a greater feat, especially if the magician enjoys having others be subservient to him. Black magicians boost their spells, condense the shakti, by sacrificing victims, but for a black magic spell to be as powerful as possible, the magician first gets the victim’s permission to be voluntarily sacrificed. To do that, the magician needs a story, a spell.
How and Why Does Magic (Mystic siddhi) Work, according to Vedic Wisdom
The Sri Isopanisad explains:
“Everything animate or inanimate that is within the universe is controlled and owned by the Lord. One should therefore accept only those things necessary for himself, which are set aside as his quota, and one should not accept other things, knowing well to whom they belong.” Sri Isopanisad, Mantra One
As the controller and owner of every single thing, God is omnipresent. The reason that we’re not constantly aware of His Presence is due to the influence of one of God’s Energies known as Maya, or illusion. This Illusory Energy covers those souls who harbor, in their hearts, the desire to enjoy separately from God. If you’re being disturbed due to the fact that you share the world with selfish people, it is because you, yourself, desired to forget God. Otherwise you wouldn’t be here. (With this attitude, it is impossible to be a victim.)
God is friendly. He doesn’t want His parts and parcels, the marginal souls. to suffer and He desires to regain the unique relationship that He has with each of us more strongly than we’ve ever desired anything in our lives. The Vedas explain a path in which a conditioned soul who regrets his desire to forget God can gradually awaken his dormant love of God. (This is a subject that is most important to every conditioned soul, so if you are interested in reading more about this please read Sri Isopanisad.)
The Srimad Bhagavatam gives elaborate descriptions about how the world works from the structure of the universe, to how time is calculated by the movements within an atom to how an embryo develops within a womb. It also explains how God’s Internal Energy, known as hladini shakti penetrates the coverings of the material universes (there are innumerable universes, according to the Vedas) and is received by Lord Shiva who controls the outermost and subtlest covering of the universe, known as ahankara (loosely translated as false ego).
Before I continue explaining how the Hladini Shakti is transformed in the material universe, let me explain about the subtle material element known as ahankara. The Vedas explain that matter takes eight basic different forms (elements) ranging from the grossest element, earth (solid) to the subtlest ahankara (false ego). Our material bodies, which are described as machines on which the soul rides, are made up of all eight material elements. While we know that our bodies are solid (earth) with some liquid (water), heat (fire) and gasses (air), the Vedas explain about the 3 invisible elements of the mind, the intelligence and the false ego, ahankara that compose our subtle/ghost body. The finely subtle element of ahankara is what convinces us that what we believe about ourselves is true.
Because God loves each of us unconditionally, He puts us into a perfect drama in which are given innumerable opportunities to use our freedom to choose the godly path (morality) or the demonic path of selfishness. When we reach the level of selfishness in which we are willing to do horrible deeds in order to fulfill our desires and have developed such a strong belief in our own righteousness that it mirrors, in a perverted way, the faith that God’s devotees have in God’s love for them, at that time we will have the power to harness God’s shakti to do magic.
Hladini Shakti is God’s Internal Energy and the closest English words to describe Her (She is God’s Feminine Energy) is ecstatic love. When Hladini Shakti is received by Lord Shiva, who is the form of God who administers the material quality of tamaguna, or ignorance. When Hladini Shakti penetrates the covering of the universe and encounters ahankara, the pure shakti is split into innumerable shaktis in a similar way to how a prism splits a clear beam of sunlight. Everything wonderful that we experience in the material world is due to this transformation of Hladini Shakti. Without the presence of this shakti, a smile would just be a particular arrangement of facial muscles, the pleasure associated when feeling the warmth of sunshine would be absent and we would be unable to appreciate the cuteness of kittens play-fighting. Hladini shakti is transformed into electrical energy, strength, prowess, wisdom, Mother’s love, and everything else that makes dead things seem alive. It is the shakti that nourishes the souls and gives us the hope that we will be able to be purely happy.
Materialists, as discussed above believe that happiness comes as a result of fulfilling material desires. Spiritualists understand that happiness is the natural state of the soul and endeavor to rid ourselves of the nasty desires that stand in the way of loving God with an open heart.
Analysis of a Black Magic Spell, The Covid Story:
Let’s look at the example of a story that has all the elements of a black magic word spell, The Covid Story.
First there was the foreshadowing: the media, and entertainment industry employed numerous instances of predictive programming to the point that I was able to predict the initiation date, to the day, of the active phase of the spell. Anyone who diligently researches predictive programming will have to conclude that the techniques have and are being employed. The reason that the black magicians use predictive programming is because it boosts the power of the spell by condensing shakti when they inform the intended victims about what they intend to do as a preliminary to gaining consent.
In addition to predictive programming, a number of gala ceremonies announcing the coming Pandemic were staged, most notably the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. Ceremonies that evoke an intention to create victims become powerful when they have a large number of participants are witnessed by a large audience of potential victims. The opening ceremony in question was very disturbing and not at all entertaining, yet it happened. Somehow it was approved through the necessary committees and government agencies. Entertainers somehow agreed to perform and a large audience watched the performance. Because of the large venue and the ugly, ritualistic nature of the opening ceremonies, an alert observer might conclude that the black magicians have achieved mass hypnosis.
The word spell story: people are told that there is a new, deadly germ that has governments all over the world in a tizzy to protect people who are in great danger. The danger is so great that elderly people or unhealthy people might have up to a 3% risk of dying(!) if the deadly germ is allowed to spread unimpeded. (a 3% or less chance of dying in the event of catching Covid shouldn’t evoke much concern, unless a hypnotized person is told to be frightened.)
The story continues: this deadly germ is different because it can live in a host without causing any symptoms. ( Again hypnotized people accept this assertion without objection.) However, the story continues, if people cover their mouths and noses with cloth and keep a magical 6′ away from others, they will be fine. (This part of the script highly empowers the magic spell because people all over the world start covering their mouths and noses with cloth, which is a very uncomfortable thing to do. There are beings in the subtle realm that strive on discord and discomfort and actually can use it to gain personal strength. Their extra power further enhances the magic word spell as these subtle beings become indebted to the spell casters.)
There are other nuances to the hypnotic Covid Story which could (and probably will someday) fill a book.
The Covid Story word spell is like a boil, a skin infection affecting a small portion of the body that has the potential to spread systemically. The infection rages until the pustule bursts, releasing the goo that was causing the pain. The authors of the story hope to reap the benefit of having complete control over the human population as the ending of the story, which was the purpose of the spell.
Conclusion
This article has barely touched the surface in analyzing how black magic is being used to control our minds and affect our happiness. I haven’t discussed how to negate a black magic spell or how to determine if events in one’s life are caused or enhanced due to the use of black magic. To cover all the aspects of black magic could fill a book. The purpose of this article is to give the reader some solid real concepts to help him/her understand how and why God allows people to misuse his Internal Energy for selfish purposes. Readers are welcome to post this article with credit and a link, if they post the article in its entirety. Questions and Discussion are welcome!
